| Nocona Indain Band makes school history! |

The Nocona High School Band competed at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest held on Wednesday, March 10th in Decatur, where it received the prestigious Sweepstakes Award for earning 1st division ratings (superior) at all contests held this year.
The band earned its first superior rating for the year at the UIL marching contest held in October. This was Nocona’s first superior rating in marching in over 30 years! The marching contest is the first step to earning the Sweepstakes Award.
Then on Wednesday the band performed for the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. For this contest the band performed three prepared pieces for three judges, earning a superior rating from all three judges. Afterward, the band receives a brand new piece of music they have never seen and have seven minutes to go over it without playing their instruments. At the end of the seven minutes the band has to play the piece.

 The Nocona Indian Band, under the direction of Mr. Richard Knabe, performed its winning numbers for the student body on Friday. At Mr. Knabe's feet are the trophies won this year.
The band earned a superior rating in this part of the contest as well. Since the band earned a superior rating at all three UIL contest for this school year, they earned the prestigious Sweepstakes Award for the first time in Nocona High School Band history.

| Using the NHS Web Calendar |

Students, parents, and teachers alike can now use the NHS General Calendar to stay informed of school activities.
The "Smoke Signals" publication has been discontinued this school year. With the Web calendars we will have a "living" document that we can quickly update as needed....so check it frequently! The calendar is accessed by clicking the NHS General Calendar button in the top menu. After opening the calendar you can switch months by clicking on the < or > symbols to the left and right of the displayed month's
